Gaston County, NC
I will be in the Gastonia/ Mount Holly area for a few days next week, anyone throw me a bone on panning in the area? I would really appreciate it! And my wife will love you for getting me out of her hair hehe

If you can find a creek around here with sufficient water. I have heard Dutchmans Creek has some gold in it. There are several old mines in this area, so some of the creeks do have gold. Getting landowner permission might be difficult tho.

Are there any NF there ( I will look) I think you can pan on NF land, but not use a machine. Thanks again,

The nearest thing to a NF is Kings Mountain National Battleground. There's no NF here, thank goodness. I know of about 6 old mines withing 15 min of my home. Unfortunately, most of the landowners won't allow anyone on the properties, or they are going to be bulldozed. For one of these old mines, it wouldn't be bad. Too many kids like to "play" there a little too much.
