I made a real good sluice from a piece of 3 ft. 4 inch black plastic corrugated pipe. I cut it in half and fastened it on an inch board and set it on a wood frame at about20 or 30 degrees. This works fine after everything is classified down to sand size. About 90% is caught in the first 6 to 10 inches and the black shows it good.

I've dredged before with nothing but this stuff- gravity dredging. Works well for those hard to get to places where lugging equipment is difficult to say the least. Just pound the sides as you work your way down the pipe, emptying it into a pan when you're done. A rag tied on the lower end creates a collapsable tailpiece that doesn't allow air to come back in and cause an airlock.
