    POLL

What is your favorite treasure hunting and what method do you use ?

My favorite is gold prospecting and I use:
    Panning
    Sluicing
    High banking
    Trommel
    Dredging
    Dry Vac
    Dry Washing
    Crevicing
    Sniping
And hammers and chisels and pick axes.

    Re: POLL

Well there now I found you GoodGuy ....... I think perhaps you might find my collecting rather uninteresting as opposed to MD, but never the less it gives me the same kind of buzz that MD must give to yous all. You see I enjoy "rummaging", now if that word is unfamiliar to you over their in the US, here in the UK it means looking around, and scrounging even lol. I enjoy garage and table top sales, junk shops, and if I can afford it Antique shops. I "try" and collect antique furniture (if it's going cheap) and cut glass crystal, particularly perfume bottles. The furniture part isn't too bad because some people throw out all sorts of stuff that looks like rubbish, when in fact it isnt. The cut glass is abit different, people are much more aware of its beauty, so then I have to "rummage" abit more in the junk shops and see if I can catch someone who is unaware of what it is, and buy it at a knock down price I am keeping my fingers crossed for a digi camera for my birthday so that I can post some of my pieces, that's if I can find out how to do that

Well there you are Goodguy, I hope your page gets off to lively start, and creates a place of interest, and if I can join in from time to time, knowledge permitting, I certainly will

I hate to admit it, but I come from a long line of "trash pickers"
and was introduced to the philosophy of "one mans trash is another mans treasure" at a very early age. We used to go treasure hunting at city dumps.

Then one day my Mother bought a mail order "treasure detector" in 1959 when I was 10 years old. I think it was a Telco or something like that. Anyway, Mom, Dad, and I went to all of the places they could think of where treasure could be hidden, old home places and the like. We even managed to find the one room school house that my Dad went to when he was little.
It was all run down and grown over but we were able to find a few things.
I can remember finding a small bell that my Dad said the teacher would ring to bring the kids in from recess. I wish I still had that thing.

When the show "Cash and Treasures" first aired, my treasure fever went up so high that my wife thought I needed to see a doctor. (she still does)

I can't drive past a pile of garbage sitting out by the curb without slowing down to see what goodies I can spot. I guess it's in my blood.

    McGearhead,

Did you ever find out what that deep target by the chicken coop was?

Could it be a buried cache of silver

Actually GG, the greatest treasures I've found at all the hunts I've detected is the friendship and lasting relationships that develop among folks of a like mind.

Are there any liberal detectorists? I haven't met a single one that I know of.

I have gained immensely from the knowledge so easily shared and the enjoyment of being of occasional assistance in my limited hunt experience as well as my travel experiences as I've moved around this county. I've done over 36K miles and been to multiple though not many hunts since I bought my travel truck in February this year.

The truly priceless treasure is always other people. Though you and I have not yet met, I think it will happen.

    Be Blessed!
