NoNeck, Hey. I owned a GPS MAP70 and still own a MAP76. You will like the 60. A perfect compliment to that GPS would be the de Lorme TOPO4 series maps. They go for about $50 per state. It will be a good match. TTC

OOPS! my post sounds like you can load the TOPO4 onto the Garmin. Probably not so. I meant the complimment is in the computer program and the Garmin unit. Ease of swapping waypoints and similar info is very nice. Garmin has proprietory software maps you can use on the unit(s) but I have not yet been there. I don't like using the Garmin as my field "map". Also, NOTHING replaces the actual topo map for reliability in the field and a compass. A GPS is only an aid! TTC

I have a 60csx and have been very happy with it.... I ordered the chip, from Garmin with my area on it. (Southeast) They send me updates to it and I download them to the unit, via the USB cable. Check into the available chips of your area.

    Re: Garmin gpsmap 60csx

I just got mine a few weeks ago after weeks of trying to decide which one suited my needs and wallet. Used it yesterday to find an old ballfield in the middle of the woods that was completely overgrown and walked to within an honest 2 feet of home plate, and without it I never would have realized it.

I created a waypoint on homeplate using historic aerials, transferred it to Mapsource, and bingo, walked right to it in the nastiest underbrush I'd ever been in. I wish that hike had been worth it, but I did find a V nickel and a wheatie.

We used it the week before to find the site of some old buildings in an area we'd been through many times before but never sure of the location. Again, we walked right to it and knew it was the spot because of the finds.

I used my sons Etrex before but it just didn't work under the tree canopy. The 60CSX had no trouble at all. If you get a bouncy signal try turning WAAS on and off to see which one keeps it more stable.

Garmins maps are pretty expensive and it was one of the reasons I was thinking about the PN-40 or PN-60, but I decided to go with Garmin.

There are some free topo and routable maps you can get that work great. I've tried both in my unit with no problems and I'll include the links here... http://garmin.na1400.info/routable.php and here's the one for the topo's.... http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/

    Have Fun!
    Mike
