I can see a need for blasting in hard rock mining.
How do you obtain a permit and dynamite/caps to do this?

It's been 20 yrs. but in ca. back then, you needed a permit to transport, and store it. Anyone could buy it. I bet things have changed completely since 9/11!

I know of 2 powder monkeys who have tossed their blasting permits this past year. UNBELIEVEABLE hassle anymore. Look into black smokeless powder or nitrate/fuel mixes. I quit playing with dynamite about 20 years ago-toooooooooooooo dangerous-Tons a au 2 u 2-John

Yes You need a Special Clearance These days to Purchase.

They have caused many of Mines here in PA to
shut down due to the B.S. involved

Go to your local farm store and buy a big bag of amonium nitrate fertilizer and see how long it takes for someone to come around and ask what you intend to do with it! I remember when you could buy dynamite at the local hardware store. Monty

Great fun.

Some folks I heard of took a 16 oz. propane cyl. and a flare to a rock quarry.
Lit off the flare and put it 3' away from filled tank and shot at tank with armor piercing rounds.
That was the idea. The dumb shooter first hit the flare and put it out and THEN hit the tank
which made a benign cloud that drifted away on the breeze. Cameras were rolling too. Sad.


For rock bustin tho the Dexpan looks good.

C4 works better you can control the direction of the blast. Oh sorry this is not the corp. Back to subject at hand I was reading that there is a powder that will split rock without an explosion. You can find it on the web. It is used in mining.
