First time posting. Looks like a fun site. I have a rock that I found when planting a bush. It's a bit unusual looking to me but that doesn't say much since I'm not that knowledgeable. At first I thought it might be some type of stone used by Native Americans. Open to suggestions. Thanks in advance.

It's okay to say you don't know what it is, sport.

Do you know how difficult it is to ID a rock from a photograph to begin with but also taken under less than ideal conditions with a camera under poor lighting with questionable optics and being hand held on top of a focusing problem.
What to do? Photograph in natural light at high noon with a way to steady the camera. Do a scratch test and a hardness if it can be done. There are over 3400 (give or take)minerals and even the same ones can look very different.
Given the information sometimes supplied an ID is very hard unless the mineral or element is obvious.

What do you all think of this and what it could be the mineral?

What do you make of this "loaf of bread"? Very heavy. I did not clean the dirt off the bottom because I thought it might cause pieces to fall off. I got a close up of the pattern that repeats throughout. ╦╦Ç

Yeah but they're only slightly magnetic. And only at certain spots on the rock. There's a lot of pictures that match them online that are claiming to be meteorites. Don't think it is a meteorite. Space rocks don't have vugs (holes). ╦╦Ç

If memory serves we're closer to 4000 minerals today.

It's a concretion, which seems like someone else already pointed out.

Looks sedimentary. I'd go with concretion again!

Greetings! My son is hoping for some help identifying this rock and what glows on it under the black light. Any help would be much appreciated!

We don't know where it came from unfortunately. My father was a geologist and worked all over the world. He gifted his rock collection to my 10 year old. My father lives 2000 miles away and his memory is starting to go so we haven't wanted to ask. Instead my son has been researching what he can and he tells his grandpa what he found out. That excites grandpa without overtaxing his memory. We have quite a few that we haven't identified yet, but when my son noticed it glowed like that he was really interested in finding out what it is!

I don't think it's fluorite. I was getting fluorite crystals in AZ. They always were crystals in a white rock matrix. I'll try to find my "glow book" to see if it's in there. ╦╦Ç
