Keene rc1 or k&m crusher.

Hello all,

We are looking to start doing some sampling for hard rock gold around an old gold mine here in Virginia. And we want to a small crusher to start to be able to run some good samples to determine viability of he various tailing piles as well as we we start to trench and attempt to reopen some of the old shafts.

I keep debating between the Keene rc1 crusher and the k&m crusher. Anyone have experience with either? The Keene only takes a 1 inch in feed where as the k&m takes 2.5 inch. The k&m also uses chains with a Rockwell hardness of 62 so I would hope that they last much longer then normal chains.

But I don't like how the k&m will powered to 100 to 200 mesh. I only need to powder to about 4 mesh to liberate the free gold.

Pluses and minuses to both but just wanted to get some other opinions.

4 mesh is 1/4" minus. For that size, I'd forget about an impact mill and go straight to a jaw crusher.

For 40 mesh, I go with the Keene RC1. Screen the output and run the oversize again. I think Keene's open bottom design would work better in this situation.

It would vary drastically without type screen. Some material would run straight through and some would stay in longer.
