    sedimentary conglomerate

HI, i have a question on sedimentary conglomerate. I dredge and run my highbanker alot here in TN, I find lots of sedimentary conglomerate, is it worth crushing this up and looking for gold in it? it has quartz in it and who knows what else.Has anybody ever found gold in it? thanks

Wouldn't hurt to crush half a ton or so, just in case You never know right!

HI: DJUIS is correct. Also yes Gold can be found in it, but generally it is fine but may be very worthwhile.

    Re: sedimentary conglomerate

The Old ancient river channels used to run in a North to South direction and a lot of streams now days cut through these sedimentary Conglomerates.

We have a big formation around here in Douglas County, You can see it up Cow Creek and around the Ollala area.

I saw some gold once that came out of this conglomerate, it was in a tall Alkaseltzer bottle and it filled the bottle up.

All of the Gold was just smaller than a peewee marble and just slightly flattened, it had black pitted holes and the gold was not real shiny, actually you could tell it had just been broken free of the conglomerate material.

It has been thirty years since this was shown to me.

I know nothing more about it!

    Re: sedimentary conglomerate

I have seen up to three ounce nuggets in conglomerate. As mentioned the ancient channel carried massive amounts of gold and big gold as well. The gravels are cemented and the gold is often inside, nothing dictates if it is small or big
    M.X.T , Tesoro Tejon 4"& 2.5" dredge with a little luck!!
