Question about hotel on the big Island

I would like to surprise my wife with a trip to the Big Island. We will be married or 33 yrs this Feb. I wold like to try and make arrangements on my own instead of going thur a travel agent. So I was wondering if someone could tell me if I can find a decent hotel at the beach for around $100 to $125 a night. It will be me, my wife and our 8 yr old daughter. I am looking to take this trip at the end of May or in June. As I have to wait until school is out. Any information you can give me will be appricated......Matt
