E-Trac or SE Pro?
I have finally decided to get either an E-trac or SE Pro over an Excalibur. I will be using it at the salt water beaches, in the wet and dry sand. I will use it in yards at old homesteads. I will also use it at foundations I find in the woods. I have a Minelab XS-2a Pro now and can distinguish every sound and could tell you what the item was before digging it. Are the sounds the same if you know? Does the E-trac really go deeper than the SE Pro? Yesterday, mine picked up a Merc about a foot deep, will either of these machines go deeper or would have picked it up if it was on its side? Does the E-trac have so many modes that it will mess me up, or is that a myth? I know I ask a lot of questions, but i need to know if I should pay the extra $200 for the E-trac. What do you think?
Thank you for your thoughts.

Re: E-Trac or SE Pro?
As best as I understand it relic hunters like the SE & park hunters like the E-Trac. The user interface is easier to handle on the E-Trac but for someone already acustomed to the Explore that should not be much of an issue.

the etrac seems to be better than the SE, but if you're going to do water too, the excal would be better

Re: E-Trac or SE Pro?
I've owned both the SE and the E-Trac. I still have the E-Trac. The SE was pretty good but only slightly deeper than my DFX, and my DFX was much better in all other types of hunting, so I kept the DFX. The E-Trac easily pulled deep old coins out of the same park I had hit hard for years with all my other detectors. Even today I am still able to pull extremely deep coins out of the park, but only with the E-Trac.
My hunting buddy just bought him an E-Trac, after seeing me pull old coin after old coin out of the park, and has been using it for about 2 weeks. He pulled a few good coins out of the park at the start, but now he is pulling a hand full of old coins on every trip. Just yesterday he called me up to thank me for getting him to buy the E-Trac. He had just come from a quick hunt in the park and sent me a picture of his 7 wheats and 1 merc. My buddy is not much when comes to technology, so if can learn the E-Trac pretty much anyone can as long as they are determined.
Current: Exp. E-Trac, AT Pro, DFX
Past few years: XP Deus, V3i, MXT, XLT, Eagle Spectrum, X-Terra 70, SE Pro, Sovereign GT, F4, F75 LTD, MH CXIII, ACE 250, Omega 8000

I don't mean going in the water at all, I wouldn't think of doing that with SE Pro or E-Trac. I mean that I would search saltwater beaches at the high tide line. I'm now leaning toward the E-Trac from the replies, but how does it perform in the damp/wet salt sand? Thanks all for the replies.

I don't generally hunt beaches, we don't have to many of those here, but I've heard even
in wet sand they're still pretty good
