    Now that's deep!

I'm not sure if this is the correct thread. Here goes anyway. I moved to the Philippines a year ago. I still have my primary home in the US but I have lived here in the Philippines just over a year now.
I'm sure many of you know about the Japanese general that buried tons of gold and other valuables (some say all over the Philippines) in which no one really knows how much has been found to date.
Just so happens my Filipino wife owns a good size property on a site Japanese tourist still visit from time to time. I am not sure of the total significance of this area but the local stories from those that were here at the time the Japanese army were, up to now say that this was one of the places treasure was buried.
Sorry this is a little long but I thought it would be best to give a little pre story before asking what you think.
Our renter at the time farmed tropical fish. He was in the process of digging out a new pond when they hit an unexploded mortar shell about two meters down. It was very much intact. Looked like you could have cleaned it up and it would look new. Now I feel really stupid for looking at it. Could have blown up right then. The police came and got it. All that to say, as rumor has it, the Japanese booby trapped these treasures. There were some other markers left by the Japanese army that are unexplained. Also some places there are constant flows of water that doesn't stop going down.
Some here think there are tunnels somewhere on our property.
So what I want to do as we are building our home on this property is to get the right metal detector that might help us find treasure or at least any unexploded ordnance.
So far my research has taken me to the Fisher Gemini 3, Discovery TF 900, Garrett Treasure Hound Depth Multiplier and Whites TM 808. Seems the last two may be the same detector because as I have read, Discovery use to make detectors for Whites.
Which of these is best for what I described my needs are or do you have any other suggestions? Oh! Think I should mention there is natural mineral deposits. Some say the Japanese diverted the natural river to build this place up. Some also say these treasure deposits may be 60 feet down. We may be lucky because the family has been working on this property for many years. As much as 50 feet in some places, earth has been removed already.

I'm a white's fan ..I own a grandmaster hunter cx pluss with the box loop..but i would go with the fisher it has way more set up capability.. it's more geared to what you have in mind.. when you turn the garret in to a regular detector theirs no-then supper a bout that..it doesn't even compare to an mxt .. ......I would go with the Gemini...way more capability...

Lots of those Japanese treasures were buried really deep, yes over 50 feet was common.
Remember the Japanese could do anything they wanted including using heavy equipment
to excavate. Look at the ads by AccurateLocators.com on some loot found in the Philipines
with their equipment. More expensive, yes, but regular detetors in my opinion would be
next to worthless including the two box units.

    Hey SWR,
Not disagreeing, I met a very old Phillipine lady who claims she watched the Japanese bury
something on her property during WWII. The land has been in her family since befor the
war until now. The family doesn't believe her and they are not at all interested in investigating.
She doesn't know what was buried but she did say they used lots of machines and buried it deep.
I am not interested in going there because they also watch treasure hunters. As I would do if
someone wanted to dig on my property.

    SWR,
I think you may be right, I just discounted traveling to the Phillipines right off the
bat. I do enjoy reading someone else's stories about Japanese loot though.
