The T2 is lighter, but the CZ3D is a dual frequency machine, which comes in really handy.

My gut is telling me its a "bad" trade.

Just opinion here. The T2 I believe is similar to my Fisher F75, which has seven frequencies to choose from. And if I remember right from my buddy's T2, his maintains the settings after shut down whereas my 75 has to be reset. Of the CZ series, I understand they are outstanding on a beach due to the mineralization. So...if you hunt beaches a lot...CZ. Otherwise, T2.

Bad trade unless you just wanna learn a different detector.

Very, very, VERY bad trade IMHO I've ran with many different brands and they've all been pretty good. However, these 3D's are in a different class. Talk about deep And there is SO much information in the tones. I don't think I would EVER sell my 3D. Matter of fact, I might be getting another one as a back-up. I might be biased since I have one of the original 1021 models and it was calibrated and tested by the designer himself - Mr. Thomas Dankowski. I just cannot believe how unknown and under appreciated these machines are

At the end of the day, it comes down to what YOU like. Did it work for you? Was it fun to use?? Did you find good stuff with it Since you were asking for opinions though, thought I would share mine

P.S. - As sandman mentioned, they will both get ABOUT the same depth. Most of the top-end detectors fall under roughly the same depth limits...give or take a tad. So, you are just tasked with learning a new machine. One that is more chattery, more complicated & more problemsome than the 3D

I havent received my T2 yet, so I cant say if trading the CZ3D for a T2 is good or bad, I can say the 3D is heavy,in all fairness it must be hip mounted, now that becomes a problem when detecting in the woods and brush. Secondly, as I stated on other sites, 4 of us all purchased CZ3D's, 2 are already going back for repair. Ground balance and sensitivity controls constantly moving. Because of desighn, headphone jack gets water and debris in it. We all took them to Virginia civil war hunting, the soil made them less than effective. It is a great machine, but I own a CZ21, It is basically the same machine, I use it on land it is a killer, it is hip mounted also. After this summer, I will write back and try to give a fair comparison.

Re: Good bad or ugly move

Well, I wish you much success with the T2 drybones I will agree with you on a few different points...

Yes, the 3D is basically the same as the 21 from what I understand. Only difference is that the 21 ONLY has a "salt" mode - the 3D has the "enhanced" mode as well. I'm not much oh a beach hunter, so, please correct me if I'm wrong.

And yes again, the knobs have a VERY nasty habit of moving around...mainly because they are near the pinpoint button. But also because Fisher dropped the ball by NOT making them clickable This happens to me ALL THE TIME. One thing you can try is to put a rubberband around the neck of the knob itself. This will provide some friction or resistance so the knobs don't move as easily.

Finally, yes once more. The 3D's ARE heavy units, however, certainly NOT as heavy as say a Minelab. So, this one is manageable for me.

I haven't used a T2, but, they are hot machines from all I've seen and heard. However, very unstable, chattery & has numerous problems with EMI - issues I NEVER deal with on the 3D. Hope the T2 performs well for you, but, my gut & experience still tells me you made the wrong move

In response to the CZ21 having problems, oh boy just sent it in for repairs using at a beach 10 min. its bell toneing like crazy. Felix great guy, said he will take care of it. Only trouble it will be gone for 3 weeks, thats why I have a Tiger Shark. As I said 4 of us bought 3Ds, 2 broke, I didnt like mine. While using my 21, while waiting for the T2, I found more old stuff then when I had a Cortez, CZ3D. My buddy found more old stuff with his 21 while waiting for his to be repaired. We found, I know it is hard to believe, cause everyone always comes up with these fantastic finds, but 1828 half cent, 1864 indian head, cant quit tell if it has a L mark, a Abe Lincon token when he was running for Pres. with his picture on it, A rare find. 1852 large cent. All with the CZ21, in my opinion, if you dont mind hip mounting, which you will have to do if you by the 3D. get the 21, its better. Oh yea, all in northern Ohio.

After seeing all the trouble with the 3D and the CZ 21........ thats not good....... I never knew that the 3D's and 21 were that bad........................ Right now i am looking at a fresh water detector but with Fishers and Minelab's bad out of the box and bad service record........ I am looking at the ...Tesoro tiger shark .....or the Whites beach hunter...........Now Garrett has a good service dept but i am not happy with my AT Pro.............. I like my Garrett GTI 1500 better.......... But for fresh water it will be a ....Tiger shark ........or beach hunter.........

There is no way I would trade a cz for a teknetics. It's like trading a Cadillac for a Yugo.

Re: Good bad or ugly move

I started this topic and said I would write back after summer, with the comparison, since I had both units. Well the 3rd member of our party had to send hid 3d back for repair, thats 3 out of 4 units broke within a year. Now for depth, no comparison, T2 is getting coins at 12 sometimes 13 inches, granted there only wheaties but the one working cz3d cant even pick up at that depth. T2 is much better at id ing objects, especially over 10 inches. Lighter better built, I could go on. Ask the three guys who hunt with me,if they had the money they would trade for the T2. If you have used both units for over 6 months you could respond, but anyone who hasnt used both units, just dont know, and thats all I got to say about that
