    fisher f-70 or minelab 705

Hey guys I have been thinking about getting one of the two
but am undecided which one. I do a lot of coin shooting and
do some hunting for deeper old coins and jewelry, here in
Idaho the ground is usually quite good but in some areas
there is a lot of minerals. I have a bad shoulder so need the
light weight machine and perfer someting easy to use (turn on and go)
thanks for any info Idaho Hunter

I don't have a 705 but have 2 Xterra 70's, and I have found the Xterra 70 to be a really good all round machine. With the stock coil you get real good depth on coins and jewelery and if you add the 10.5" M.F. coil, it turns into a super deep detector. It is real easy to use, has good auto ground tracking and a nice display. I believe that the 705 display is also backlit. The only experience I have with the newer Fisher F series detectors is that I had an F4 and will not get another. It had a real bad EMI problem, no matter what coil (I had all 4 coils) I used, unless I kept the sensitivity set real low I could not use it in town and out in the country it would go nuts if a car went by within a quarter mile. I sent it back to F.T twice, the second time they replaced the board, finally sold it and got the Xterra 70, been happy ever since.

With your bad shoulder you should look at the Tesoro detectors as they are lighter, use less batteries, have Lifetime Warranty and I like them better than either the Fisher or Minelab. Remember you are detecting to have fun, not kill yourself.
