White's Surf Dual Field vs. Tesoro Sand Shark

Wondering how the machines compare in durability and performance. The Shark is $200 cheaper, three pounds lighter and comes with a lifetime warranty vs. a two-year warranty from White's, but I know the Dual Field has a loyal following as well, and Clive Clynick has book on using the DF.
I will use the detector on black sand beaches here in Oregon.

If you do not plan on actually hunting in swift surf I would go with the Dual Field. If you plan on wading in surf the 8" Sand Shark's thin coil slices through the water much easier and it doesn't float up like the Dual Fields coil has a tendency to do.
I like the DF's threshold better and it is deeper in my experience. Either one will hit targets that are deeper than you are able to reach under certain conditions where the sides of your holes start caving in quicker than you can dig.

Thanks Fletch. I think I will go with the home-town product. I was at White's in Sweet Home yesterday. They are nice folks, and a local dealer is making me a great offer on the Dual Field. The Oregon surf can be violent and deadly without warning.

I don't know how well it runs in black sands of Oregon coast. I think "Lucky Larry" has said it performs quite well there. I have also read that in heavy mineralized areas the 8" coil will get better depth, but I have not used the 10.5" version. I like the 8" for diving and wading.

I don't know sandman. In auto tune it's a pretty close race! I have never actually compared signals with the 2 just used both at different times. I know I have chased targets down so deep I finally had to give up because of the sides of the hole caving in faster than my back could keep up with!
