The main difference between the detectors listed as far as operation is, the Explorer 2, Explorer ES , and Explorer ESpro, is the Ferous/Conductivity listing together on the screen. The Explorer Xs only displays Conductivity. The electronic processors improved with each newer model of Explorer, making them faster, ad far as recovery speed. The newer models also had newer coil designs shipped from th factory. All the updated coils will work with all models of the Explorer. GOOD HUNTING.

Be careful paying too much for Explorer, Explorer II Explorer XS as Minelab repair can no longer get motherboard parts for repair, The only Explorer model that parts are easily available for is the Explorer SE..... Keypads for SE work on the XS, just different color and will say SE. Some repairs on the older Explorers can be done if they can figure out what component failed as only way to repair them is by replacing individual components since motherboards are not available. Not always easy to figure out what component is bad, especially if interment issue....
