ADJUSTING/TUNING MY METER

Hello all. Brand Newbie to the hobby here. The manual for my very old (read ancient) metal detector has instructions for setting it up. BUT they tell me to use a nickle and a bottle cap to adjust the discrimination mode. I don't know where I might find a bottle cap so I'm wondering what I can use instead. Maybe a piece of tin-can cut to the appropriate size.
Any suggestions/ tips pls.

dont worry ? be happy. dont sweat finding a bottle cap. just use the typical clad coins as a starting point to get aquainted with readings. you will find more junk than you will be able to tolerate. you have to start somewhere. so just get out there and keep us posted. worrying isnt part of this sport. and take some pictures when u do find anything worth bragging about. now get goin.
