Goodmorning all! I just started swinging about a month ago after deciding to purchase a at pro. Never thought it would be so addicting lol! Beenit hitting some old sites here in eastern pa. I think im doing pretty well so far, found about 25 in clad and a few silvers, no gold yet though. Im wondering if anyone has any tips on those annoying bottle caps? Is there any distinctive sound on them using pro zero mode?

Welcome to the hobby! It truly is addicting.

When you say bottle caps, are you talking steel caps or aluminum pull tabs? The steel bottle caps can be nulled out a bit with discrimination, but aluminum tabs is sadly a fact of life we have to deal with if you want to dig the good stuff.

Be prepared for a LOT of iron, steel, and aluminum junk compared to the good stuff. You mentioned no gold yet, well, sometimes the items that also show as "junk" from a VDI number are infact silver and gold... To be sure, you have to dig them all.

Again, welcome to the hobby, it's a LOT of fun.

Bottlecaps give off a funky sound in the beginning and at the end of the tone. They sound like loud quarters otherwise. I dig them unless the area is chock full of them as I have found too many cool items directly below a bottle cap to pass them up.
If you want gold, dig your nickels and pull tabs.

Welcome to the forum! :icon_thumleft:

The AT pro will give a quick low tone followed by a longer high tone then a quick low tone. Now with that all said, I dig all of those tones and mid tones (pull tabs). I have the art of extracting targets down to a science and is faster for me to recover and move on than sitting there for five minutes deciding whether or not to dig or not. Gold rings...etc hide in this region of the VDI scale. Note: I have dug a large amount of gold rings...etc in the AT Pro's 38 - 69 VDI region. Also, this method is site specific, Beaches; dig everything, play areas = everything, lawns and ball fields = be a bit more selective and Farm fields = every beep is a dig for me!

1st - I noticed this was your very first post - so, Welcome Aboard Jeff3006! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forum: Select Your Area.... for information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).

2nd - I moved ya from HELP! over to NEW MEMBER INTRODUCTIONS for more exposure.

Sweet half! I need to find another one of those as it's been a couple of years now.
