I found these WW-1 dog tags about 15 years ago in Garner, NC in an old millpond that had drained. I have made numerous attempts at finding out more about this person and who the relatives might be with no luck. I am on that kick again, giving it another try. The initials are N. D. Barbour and the service number is on the back. Any help or tips on where I could find more info on this person and who the relatives may be would be more than appreciated. You can email me direct at [email protected] Thanks for any help, Bryan

UPDATE: RELATIVE FOUND! I found his last living child, a son who is 75 yrs old! Within the next couple of days I am going to take the tags to him. I am very excited, as I have tried many times over the years to find a relative with nothing but dead ends. I will get pics and post them after we meet and I hand over the tags! It is a great day. Thanks to all who helped in this endeavor. Bryan

Re: WW-1 dog tags found, need to find their home!! UPDATE!!!

That is awesome Bryan! I think it's just way cool when you can return something to a family from that long ago. If it was my dad's dog tags I know it would mean a lot to me.

just in time too at 73 the sons no spring chicken. to have his dads dog tag might mean a lot to the old timer. --- last of the line a pity no one to pass it on to.

Actually when I met him, he was hanging out at his son's plumbing shop, so I guess he can pass them on to his son. But sadly, I could see his son in the office and he never even came out to say anything as I handed over the tags.
