I found what I believe is an old "dog tag" .. (YAY!! It's on its way home!!)

I am wondering if there is any way to find information enough from it that I might be able to return it to its respectful owner or a family member?

We just had one of these about a month ago. I think that one was Korean War era.

Elisha Pruitt Jr. has O pos blood type.

T-50 means 1950 was when he had his last tetanus shot. The P stands for Protestant, not positive. Also, if it was Navy, there would be a USN on the same line as the P.

I would guess that this dogtag is from 1968 or newer since the service number is over 54 million. I enlisted in Nov 1967 and mine was over 53.6 million. Also, the US before the service number means that he was drafted. If he had enlisted, it would be RA instead of US. Also, it's not Army. Must be Navy or Air Force. I have no idea what the T-50 means, but the other is O Positive as already stated. One last thing. This Pruitt name sounds familiar for some reason. Have we already seen this tag before?

I was drafted early '68 and my no. was also 536-------. But in late 68 the Army changed from service numbers to "social security numbers" and issued new dog tags. Tony

I like this a lot! My uncle never came back from Korea. If this gentleman was in that war, he was very fortunate.

My Pop's WWII AAF dogtag has his Service #; they were 8 digits back then. My '70 number was my SSAN.
