Great write-up Dave and thanks to Mike-4-H for involving us in the hunt. I'm glad I ducked when you taking the pics.

There is a twist to the story folks.
When I originally spoke with the Chief, he explained a :"single children's playing marble" was missing from the items stolen. The marble was very significant and sentimental to the victim of the crime. The lady who had stored the marbles for safe keeping said, " My deceased brother and I had played with these marbles as kids. It was one of the only fond memories I had of us together"

Marinedad from Treasurenet.com found a marble that matched a description of the victims description. It appears the marble missing was INDEED the marble missing from the break-in.
Mark, (marinedad from treasurenet) found the marble after we had meticulously scoured the spot with metal detectors locating conductive detectable materials.

Great eye my friend.

Thank you for your help.

mike, 4-H, if you had not told me the story about the missing marble, i would not have even think to look for it. i think i was the only one you told before we set out. the only reason i found it was that i was using my pinpointer under the wire fence because the detectors would overload, and my pinpointer has a small led light on it and i happen to notice an odd shiny object. i was really hoping this was "the missing marble" and it would get returned. it's good to see not all priceless things have a high monetary value, this was the highlight of the story for me, thanks for the oppertunity and nice to meet members of the blue ridge metal detecting club, mark.
