Well at least I made a nice couple happy this morning. I was out on the beach at low tide when a hysterical woman approached me out of breath. She said her husband lost his wedding ring 2 days ago and she saw me from their hotel room and she ran to catch up with me. They had dug a spot about 20 feet in diameter and had no luck sifting through the sand. She brought me to the spot and I found it in less than 5 minutes. She hugged me until it hurt. Lol. It was the biggest platinum band with white gold inset that I have ever seen. Didn't have my iPhone with me for a pic because I was afraid of the salt water as I waded about 6 inches deep in the low pockets I found. It's funny how you can feel so happy that you found something and be so bummed that you only got to hold it for 10 seconds. :)

It always surprises me how many people will approach me and ask for help for last valuables. Which also surprises me that I don't find more at the beach when I hunt!! hahah

Makes you ponder, "just think if they just left it behind and didn't even consider a metal detector"... Too bad... hahaha

(Nice find, and Kudos/good karma to you!)

Get a picture of the happy person/ring next time!

It's got to be one of the only times I didn't have my phone with me. I dropped my first one in a pool and it cost me big time, and carrying it in salt water kinda freaks me out. :(

Not to mention, phones usually mess with pulse machines. Hell I don't even hold a phone when using my F75..

I wonder, did she describe the ring BEFORE you found it and she took it to the pawn shop? LOL

Yes she took me straight to the spot where they have sifted for 2 days. I'm going back out today to see if I can find one that I can keep this time! Lol

Thanks Argentium! The look on her face and the tears of joy when I let her pull the ring out of the scoop were very rewarding.

Oh, I'm SURE she had heard of a spot where someone had lost a very expensive ring. And, that they'd been trying to find it the hard way for a while. So, they took you to the spot and lo and behold! (Boy! It's fun playing advocate sometimes! LOL )

Good job and kudos!

Just be careful. I had mine in such a baggie, figured there'd be no harm in sticking my bottle of cold water in the same pocket since it was protected. The cold water caused condensation on the inside of the bag and "toasted" my phone. :dontknow: LOL .

Here on the gulf coast beaches last summer, I fellow made a huge find. 2004 New England patriots Super Bowl ring. He contacted the patriots and returned the ring to the player. Turned out, the player had pawned the ring for what ever reason and it was sold. The new owner was the one who lost it. Don't know if the the ring ever made it back to the real owner
