Yesterday I was stopped while I was metal detecting at the beach. A young man said he had just lost his gold wedding band in the water while throwing a football. I went to the area and searched almost an hour but could not find it. I got his phone number and told him I would return tomorrow and look again. The last thing he said to me was " My wife is going to kill me."
I returned today with Ken, my hunting buddy to try and find it during the low tide. After about 10 minutes I got a signal in the neck deep water and sure enough, there it was.
I called,Mathew, the young man that lost it and he came over to pick it up.

I agree with OBN. Being able to come back to the spot and find the ring the next day while reading the tide takes real skill. I've been detecting for nearly forty years but only water detecting about five years. And I primarily hunt fresh water also. I love reading this forum because I learn a lot from many of these water hunters who have been at it for years. I'm addicted to checking this site everyday in hopes of seeing an awesome jewelry find from some of the old timers on here. People don't realize the skill involved in knowing where the most likely spot is for treasure and whether its obtainable due to the consistency of the sand. I didn't realize it myself until I started reading many of these threads. I've learned a bunch over the last five years from many of the pros I see on this forum all the time.
