mojjax- Is there a last name anywhere identifying who the book belonged to besides first name "Joe"? You would think it belonged to a pretty high ranking officer in itself.

Yes there is a last name , I think he is still alive and lives in our area - I want to give it back to him . It could of been accidentally donated to the sale .

Of all the hero's listed in that book, the only one missing is Mojjax. Not many people would be willing to give something that valuable back. Great find and thank you!

This company is one of the best if not the best for authenticating military autographs.

University Archives - US Historical Manuscripts : Civil War Documents : American Historical Documents for Sale : University Archives

The Eisenhower alone is worth three to four hundred dollars.

A few things to remember about autographs:

It was not uncommon to have a secretary or assistant sign for them and often they were so good at it it is hard to tell the difference. Movie studios employed people whose only job was to answer stars fan mail and sign pictures for them. Yours look to have been collected in person so that is probably not a problem here.

Auotpens are also often used to sign. The way you tell the difference is that autopens apply the same pressure across the signature and the human hand doesn't. Because of the time frame of these signatures that's not a problem here.

The time frame it was signed in does make a difference in the value.

If it is personalized it often reduces the value.

Probably the most important factor in value is content, content, content.

I found Joe and gave it back to him ! He is very happy , his Wife inadvertently donated some boxes of books to the rummage sale and it was in one .
When he was a teenager he was a messenger boy in Washington D.C. . His father worked at the Pentagon just after it was built . When Joe decided to enlist in the Army , Before he left , he went around and collected the autographs .
I asked if I could take a picture of him holding the book - he said ''sure'' .

Email this guy, dont know anything about him, but the content of the website seems like he would know about your signatures.

A stand alone Ike is around $300 on line.

    Good Luck!
