Went into our local coin shop a few days ago and the guy behind the counter says that he has something to show me. He comes back with a stack of melted coins about 20 of them all stuck together. Most are silver coins from the 1800's, some are barber's, seated liberties, a v nickel, and a gold coin! All appear to have melted after being in a fire. On top of the stack is a gold coin! The coin shop guy said a guy dug this melted blob out of one of our local parks and then sold it to the coin shop. If I found something like this I would have never sold it!

One hot fire. Leads me to two questions. What's it doing in a park, and what used to be there where the park is now? Curious on what something like that is worth. Cool

I have to agree, it is an amazing, but painful, sight. I would love to know the full story behind this!

Just had to come back again. A few post had wondered about the value or cost of something like that? Well...if I wanted to buy it, I would offer the "melt" value of silver?..Sorry fella's, could not help it.
