Where has it been for 98 years? Received in change 1912 penny
I received this 1912 penny from a change machine at the local Safeway grocery store.

WOW, that's in really nice shape. I come across them that old every now and then, but they're usually worn pretty smooth. NICE!

The times are tough and as tobacco, alcohol, and gasoline prices start going back up, people will again use all their coins to make ends meet. Going through piggy-banks, looking in the back of those deep thin cabinet drawers, and getting to the bottom of that old jar of coins, now give old coins new life....
Take a look at what pre-1965 silver coins are really worth:

I get older coins in change once in a while, but a 1912 wheat cent is very remarkable!
Can you imagine how many hands it's passed through in all those years?

Congratulations on your find! I am finding more older coins recently. Like billjustbill said, people are digging into their piggy banks but have not found a coin nearly that age yet.
