California Coin Master finds, 1950's dimes
I was leaving the local grocery store and saw a Coin Master machine.
In the reject slot, there was a fairly new penny and a worn dime.

I took them home and only there saw why the dime was so worn.
It has been out there for more than 50 years.

Correction:
The machine is a Coin Master, not a CoinStar.
This morning I walked by it and again there was a dime and a penny in the reject box.
Again, the penny was fairly new, the dime worn, this time a 1956-D.

Re: Coinstar find very worn 1951-D US dime, now another one
I've found wheaties several times in the coin stars in my area. I think they reject wheaties because of weight, same with dimes they don't weigh the same as clad & get kicked out.
Also, While you're checking the return slot look through the holes of the tray you place your coins in. You'd be surprised how many times you'll see earrings & charms in with the dust & junk. If you see some gold or silver, step over to the candy machines get a gum ball place a piece on your pen or pencil. Retrieve the goodies.
I know it's here, just need a bigger coil!

Also be sure to check the slats running down the side of the machine where the backboard attatches to the main console. Coins that fall off tend to get stuck in there as well as trash that people are too lazy to find a trash can to throw away. If the machine is away from high traffic areas in the store try sifting the coins out with a ruler or pencil. I've found at least a dollar or two in change from different coinmasters via this method.

Wow, 2 in 2 days Better keep watching that machine. Could be that people are taking in some old change they have been keeping for a long time. Or maybe someone been robbing their parents coin collection

Found a dollar today in the Coin Master.
But it will be hard to spend here in California.

i have a question...i always see silver and gold jewelry in the holes on top, but wont the store employees get mad and yell at u for digging in the top of the machine? wouldnt that be against the rules, and also look bad, like your trying to seal money from the machine? sorry, just wondering, cuz i always feel sad walking away w/o the stuff from there, but never thought of trying to get it out...keep it up and hh!

Pretend that you just dumped some money in there, then they don't have a problem.

They removed the machine over the weekend.

Previously I had found, besides the dimes posted above,
many recent foreign coins, and once a whole pile of US coins
which were rejected (don't know why).
