What a site for old maps !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Register To be able to zoom in...

    Free maps

    Read all about the site.

    What a great site.

When you click to another map you use your free time up so save the page in a folder to view later.

If it wasn't for Kimsdad telling me how to save a page then crop it and save the photo I wouldn't be
having so much fun with the limited amount of free maps to view.

    Here's the site.....

Hey Bob and gang, just go to the Gen Web site for the county you're interested in and look for the historical maps there also.

    http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ilkane/
hit this link, scroll down and you will find these maps useful also. But check out other counties as well.

    Stupid question ?
Is there an advantage with electronic maps or a hard copy in your hand type?
Beside the obvious as far a more resources to peruse ?
I did a search for my county area and most if not all (with a little work) can be had at the library for 10 cents a copy.
Obviously this isn't always the case

Geez Tim, I'm not that nerdy. You know you have to call the helpdesk first and open a ticket..... Now maybe some free maps would work. Cool idea Bob and Neal. thanks

One advantage I see and use with electronic maps, is overlaying them on top of current satellite imagery in google earth to see where things were in relation to current landmarks. You can also get really detailed with it and follow GPS coordinates to a location. Sometimes you can visually just compare the two, but you would be surprised how wrong you can be when you THINK you know how they overlap... vs. when you SEE them fading from one to the next. Details just pop out!
