Couldn't sleep the day away after work this morning, no way!
Decided to hit the woods, knew exactly where I wanted to go, too! Just had to get there. Of course my idea of getting there differs from the norm 'cause as usual I wound up taking the wrong trail and came around a bend to meet up with a 200+lb.'er about 25 feet away, right after I found a nice shed and was walking along tapping the dirt off it with my dirt shiv.
He played staredown with me for about 5 minutes, then I started crying so he left. Now disoriented and confusticated, I turned to my Taco Bell GPS but it was all over the dial... Eh, it came free with the kids meal.
So I headed off in to the brush and spent the next couple hours moping through brambles, picking up a '47 Georgie and several wheaties, 40-somethings themselves. Picked up a nice old bottle, Dr. Kilmer's Swamp Root Kidney, Liver and Bladder Cure. In fact I've had every other Dr. Kilmer's except this one! Too bad I sold them others off some time back, finally would have had a set.
Tim, sorry I missed 'ya out there. . . by the time I checked my email messages, half the morning was history.
That is a sweet bottle, and so is that shed & silver
About three weeks ago I had a similar deer experience. . . but, he wanted no part of that stare-down BS.
He kept moving closer & closer and I figured no nickel signal was worth that potential encounter.
Thanks fellers!
Sorry Neil/Mark and as usual where I was headed was not where I wound up...
Got almost all of the goodies on a hill about 500 meters west of the old gateway, east of the camp entrance. There were lots of the immediate post-prohibition/depression era bottles laying around there also, so it seems no one has been looking it over very well.
Yeah that deer, I'll call him Buck, he was bothering me a bit so I threw some change his way and he seemed satisfied with that. Guess all he wanted was a little dough...

Here's some Dr. Kilmer info. Got a huge selection of those bottles, and the small sample bottles too from the great downtown Elgin dig of '94.
Funny story Tim!
You sure hung in there against that buck. It's a weird year out there for the wildlife it seems. I saw one buck with his neck swelled up like he had an inner tube around it and then the same afternoon saw two 10 pointers travelling together tearing up the rubs and scrapes like two buddies.

Re: Beautiful morning hunt
Before you let Dan use your Taco Bell dog GPS, let me use it first. I'd like to test it head-to-head with my Garmin E-Trex, I have a feeling it will work better.
Nice finds, the bottle looks great and cool score with the George.
