Cool little pocket spill - what a week!

Man, I can't believe it! Hold onto your scalp, Brett!!!

Got out and hit the area again that did so well for me on the last hunt. Nothing there, but after I abandoned it as clean, I started up what looked like an old trail that led up a hill in the woods. Nothing but a couple of wheats and a bunch of junk in the pouch so far. I swung over a shallow big signal that I could have easily mistaken for a can top (before I wised up, that is). Actually, I was getting a nickel signal in the same area and was having difficulty pinpointing. I zeroed in on the nickel signal first, and dug a buffalo. Cool! Standing up and rescanning with the coil, I got a bead on the high tone and dug a shallow hole. After I moved the dirt, I looked down and saw another big silver!

I took a few pics of it in the hole, then stood up & had a stick of gum and to savor the moment. If I was a smoker, I imagine this is when I'd light one up. Alright, let's get it out of there. Turns out it's an '09 Barber half. It has a circular tarnish pattern on the front, centered on the coin.

I rescanned the hole, and got another nickel signal, then another, and another... This little spill had the half dollar, two buffs, and two V-nickles! Everything is relative, and after finding the half, I was almost tired of pulling out nickles. After all the nickels were gone, I filled in the hole and checked the immediate area with the coil. About 18 inches from that spot was another good signal. That one turned out to be an '08 Barber quarter that some kid scratched up with a knife before it got lost.

Funny how things work. I wanted a Barber dime to fill in the set, and about eight feet away, found a deep solid dime signal. After much anticipation while carefully digging that one, it turned out to be a seven inch deep clad dime.

A couple hundred feet farther up the slope, a 20's wheat and the 1912 V-nickel surrendered. Here's the day's finds, minus wheats & clad:

I can't believe two silver halves in two hunts! I almost feel like Lookn4seated.

After cleaning, lots of detail on the oldest V, too.

Thanks for checking out my spillage and HH!

God bless our veterans! Thank you for your sacrifices!

    Great finds there Neil!
I bet your heart was pounding pretty hard when those started coming out of the ground. Maybe you should take the rest of the week off now and recuperate.
