Re: Thin I'm done for the year
Yep, know how ya feel Tim. I stayed in over the weekend and was still cold. Got out a bit today and
dealt with the snow building up on the coil adding a couple pounds to it. I'm about ready to send
the DFX in for a refurbish before my warranty expires next spring.

isn't it funny how you plan on getting out, you sit down and the next thing you know the sun is going down and you're still in the same spot you started at LOL

I'm almost done...
depending on temps.
If we get a warm spell of 40 or better, I'll try and make it out someplace as long as I don't need a snowblower to find the ground. Speakin of that, we may get dumped on tonight.
The blast furnace of Arizona may be looking good after this...

Nice finds Tim! Good luck if and when you hit those sledding hills this winter.
I'm staying optimistic that there's another day or two this year detectable. The only question is, will I find the time

Nice finds,
I am sorry to hear those words, last of the season. Like Joe, I am trying to remain optimistic that there will be a few more days before the ground turns to stone. Have a Merry Christmas, Tim.

Crashed Plane?
Any chance this was where we had the group hunt a couple of Saturdays ago Tim? I actually found part of a real plane there, a tag from a Boing landing gear assembly actuator (or something like that). It had the actual serial number to the plane it fell off of. Probably not too related to your and Neil's RC plane, unless terrorists are now trying to take down planes landing and taking off by crashing RC planes into them ... like I said probably not too related.

Re: Then I'm done for the year
Last night saw half a dozen stuck cars ditched or sideways on the two-mile drive to work. Mostly the small hybrids and rear-wheel drive folks.
We had a generous fall of wet heavy snow early this morning. I'm talking Suzy Snowflake and millions of her cousins! This after the earlier snowfall, which was followed by light rain/drizzle and falling temps! Just got back from the drug store and it's nasty out there. Not enough salt to clear them roads and it's supposed to get really chilly tonight! It's gonna be a joy at work with about half the crew stuck or ditched on their way in!
Y'all stay warm and drive like me!

I'm hoping for at least two more days before Jan. where I can get out in the woods for a bit.
I don't usually do the sled hills. I hope you have lots of success there!
Cool find Neil! Appears to be a trailing edge gusset for a wing or other airfoil structure,,, definitely from a real aircraft, not an RC. Hope its not a piece of Flight 191.
Here's a pic of some leading edge wing gussets.

Mine was from a light civil aviation plane - probably a Cessna or Piper. I wonder which nose-gear up landing your part was from... One of the reasons I don't fly anymore!

Thanks for the pic and part ID, John. I left that sucker out there, what with bad karma and all you can never be too careful! Funny you should mention flight 191, though...
