    Saw the Barber today 12-14-09

    Hi all,
I finally broke a long drought on silver coinage! The turf was thawed today, so I went to a couple of Chicago Parks. At one I found a large caliber bullet (not pictured) had to have been bigger than 9 mil. The second park I went to produced a wheat -- 1924 and then in the same area a 1900 Barber dime. It is really worn (Mike here's an exampe of a worn coin). The obverse probably solidly grades G-4, but the Reverse is Poor -- kind of funny how only one side is nearly smooth. Any hopes of an O or S were wiped away long ago.

It's working great! I've found I need a better digging tool and a better probe (cheap Harbor Freight not doing in deep holes). I am beginning to tell the difference between Iron Falsing and Silver on deep targets' tones. It pin points much differently than the Fisher DD, and that is challenging me for some reason. Will center in one direction, then 90 degrees, find where I think it is, but the target ends up usually being off a lot -- not easy on deep targets to recover if you are off.

Nice dime, p2c! It looks like you're already developing a deeper understanding of the e-trac. Here's to many more!
