    Two interesting hunts today

About 11:00AM this morning I went out for a "brisk" hunt in the woods where the digging
was still manageable under the leaves. There was only about an inch of frost and the
shovel cut through it without a problem.

My first and only decent find was a "good for 50-cent. . ." aluminum token that was about
the size of a half-dollar. I thought I had a silver half when I saw the rim peeking out of the
    mud. . . but it wasn't .

As I was hunting, I noticed another person in the woods and when I looked more closely,
he had a metal detector but wasn't wearing gloves, wasn't carrying a digger or shovel, and
wasn't wearing headphones. When I walked over to introduce myself, he asked if I had
found anything decent. After talking talking with him for awhile, I got a strong impression that
this was his first time out hunting since his detector looked absolutely spotless. . . like "out of
the box"clean. Taking pity, I "borrowed" him the extra set of gloves I was carrying and my
Lesche. . . since I already had my Predator shovel. (and yes, I did keep a watchful eye on
his whereabouts at all times). After about 45-minutes, he gave up and thanked me for the use
    of my equipment.

    Hunt Number 2:

After I got home, I let the dogs out and the neighbor that lives behind us, came out and said
he had a problem that I might be able to help him with. He lost his wedding ring in the snow
several days earlier and asked if I could "scan" his front yard with my detector. When I got
over there, he pointed out the general area where he thought it might be and as I was looking
down toward where he was pointing, I saw a platinum band frozen in the ice and asked him "Is this it?"
He looked down, then laughed, and said "Yes, that's it!". Then he said he felt like a moron for
for calling me over. We both had a good laugh.

    Thanks for looking

Nice find on the token. I too got out for a woods hunt down here but only managed a 1945 wheatie. The ground is hard in lots of places, hopefully the mini warm up tomorrow does some good. I guess you get 2 good guy awards for lending gloves/lesche and for finding the wedding band.

    Nice token, Mark!!!

Looks like Tom Murray has an Alfalfa haircut minus the cowlick.

Any idea how old it is?

Nice job on the neighbor's ring, too!

Tell him he owes you two old property referrals or you'll put extra powder in your cannon next time you fire it.
God bless our veterans! Thank you for your sacrifices!

Awesome nice token Mark! That's gotta be a keeper!

Had a similar ring experience a few years back, with house keys. Guy asked if I could find them, but that day there was about 16" of snow on the ground. After doing what I could, I told him come spring he could dig out all the coins and pulltabs and toy cars buried alongside his driveway but his keys would have to wait until the melt. Told him I thought they were next to the house where the drain pipes and aluminum siding kept me from detecting. After the next melt, that's where he found them.

Maybe see ya this weekend?!? Gonna go hit someplace with high hopes!
