1900 Barber Today. Looks pretty nasty.
Hi Guys
Hope you had good weekend and got out for a while. I hunted Sunday morning picked up some clad and a worn 1900 Barber. The coin was 5 to 6 inches deep. The etrac with the 10x12 sef was showing it would be deeper. Has anyone else experienced this?
I'm really enjoying the etac compared to the Explorer ll. Etrac is much more stable and I'm find deeper targets more often. Hope you guys had some good finds this weekend! HH

Nice Dime!
IT is worn, but not that bad... I have a 1900 I found which is much more worn than that....
I don't know about the SEF coil b/c I have never used one. I would anticipate the opposite if you are using a larger coil (register shallower rather than deeper) Although I am not sure if the pro-coil is much smaller than the 10x12.
I have experienced if you are not right on top of the target with the sweet spot of the coil, then it will read a little deeper than it really is. Next time, try pin pointing really well from 2 directions. Get your coil right on top of the target. Then see what happens with the depth reading -- let us know.

Here's my worn 1900...

As you can see, we are saying yours is pretty decent actually. Mine is lucky to grade AG-3. If it weren't for the rubbing and surface scratches, yours would be close to VG-8 at least. Can't tell from your pic, but I think I see some liberty in your headband.

I've found 2 1900 Barber dimes and both are in similar condition. Figured I'd share one.

I agree with watercolor. No such thing as an ugly Barber. They all have character.
Now that this has become a exhibition of worn 1900 Barbers, I'll share one of mine.

Thanks Guys, they all look like trophies. I guess mine don't look that bad . I guess any silver looks good when it's being pulled out of the ground.
