    Dig those can lids!

After hunting this wooded area the other day with Kimsdad, I was thinking
on the way home that the only place we never really hunted was the south
slope of this creek that ran through the woods. In the past, this creek area
has been pretty wet during the spring so it's been relatively un-huntable.

Today Kimsdad & I had only about 2-hours to hunt so we headed out to
this this spot and after digging 2 shotgun shell heads, a few can lids and
a large, 2-prong fork with a bone handle, I got a really solid VDI 90 on my
V3. My first thought was. . . another can lid. I'm glad it wasn't

After digging down about 6 or 7 inches, I saw the silver glimmer of a
reeded edge in the pile of dirt right next to the hole. I held my breath as
I cleaned it off with some water that Neil had with him and was rewarded
with a 1918-S Walker. . . my second Walker this year.

Not far from where I found the Walker, I recovered a late 1920's Ford key
and on the other side of this creek, dug 3 Wheat's (1913, 1917 & 1919).

    Thanks for looking!

WTG on that great older Walker!!! It's just insane that it was right there by the path! I'm glad I was there to see it in the dirt!

Your new motto should be "I can hunt-out any spot in ten minutes or less!"

Nice quick hunt - Has Mr. Senior been schooling you?

(One suggestion, though - You might not want to say "bone handle" in that grove anymore!)
God bless our veterans! Thank you for your sacrifices!

    Congratz on the big silver!
Every time I dig a can lid, it's either a CAN LID, or an entire can - sometimes between 12 & 18 inches deep. Glad to see yours wasn't like that.
