A really productive weekend
Saturday morning I went out to a private home (1880's-era) with Kimsdad that
we received permission to hunt.
About two months ago, the owners of this property were having a yard sale so I
stopped (screeched) the car to a halt and asked if they would mind if I could
detect their yard. She said she needed to ask her husband so I left a card and he
called me back a couple of weeks later and gave us the "green light".
The house was built around 1886 and been remodeled by various owners but the
one thing that hasn't been touched, was the original outhouse in the backyard.

During the two-or-three hours that we had to hunt, Neil found a couple goodies
in the front yard while I was digging a Wheatie "pocket spill" (plus a Merc )
in the back.

My last find before I had to go, was a "Lifetime Membership" card to the
"The Old-Timers Baseball Association" of Chicago. WhenI found it, I thought
it was a piece of rolled-up copper flashing. After I got home, I unfolded it and
flattened it between two boards in a vice.

This morning (before the rain), I met Lowbatts, Clad, Skates and eventually,
Mayo out in the "equestrian" section of the woods for a bit of "vintage"
home-site hunting. My first find of the day, along an old horse trail, was
a 1940 Walker and a 1944 silver George nested together near a large tree.

My last find (which I'm still reluctant about keeping) was a Sterling "winged horse"
pendant made by Karen Ross in Colorado. . . AKA "Prairie Karen". Going to give
her a call to see if she has any records of it's owner since it's a one-of-a-kind piece.
Thanks for looking!

Re: A really productive weekend
Congrats on the silver pocket spill and the sterling pendant. It's finds like those that make putting up with the hordes of hungry, pesky skeeters well worth it.
