Soup hosts a field Hunt...Relics,Rings,Coins and Fun in the Fields....
Hi My Fellow Statesman...
Hosted a couple northern hunters again this past weekend..Saturday it was Mark (Scrounger) and I,Sunday there was a trio afield, with the addition of MattW...
We hit several spots, all farm fields of course, one was a former town (ghost town) that was moved/abandoned to be nearer the railroad that came through..the others were a oneroom schoolhouse (destoyed in tornado 1950's) and a former homestead,We have all hit the homestead in the past, notable finds there from previous hunts include,an Eagle "I" button, two Large Cents,a two cent piece and several IH pennies....the schoolhouse was a virgin site but was quite muddy...Mark managed a couple rings over the weekend (pics below) one was a really interesting handmade copper ring the other a gold plated ring....He also unearthed a nice 1865 IH...Matt didnt get in as much time in the field, just a few hours Sunday, but did dig a nice 1892 IH at the oldhomestead..getting pretty quiet at that site...
I had a good weekend as well and recovered a early to mid 1800's French Louis Phillipe I 5 frank silver coin ,A few flat buttons, couple IH 1863 & 1869....
The find of the weekend has to go to Mark for the copper ring...yeah yeah big silver is nice ,but what stories that ring could tell if it could talk...Way to go Mark
I have included several pics from my last few hunts as well...HH all Soup

Awesome finds! I have a similar H. Disston & Sons handsaw medallion that dates from 1870s that I found in a ghost town in Colorado. Here is a little info on yours if you scroll to the bottom of this page: http://www.disstonianinstitute.com/medv2.html

Lowbatts, this thumbwheel has a date of 1868...another tnetter ID it for me...I was thinking it might be a flat button.. but after cleaning it better I could see the square shaped hole....
