Snow Day!
Yippee!
Boss just called and I got tonight off also!
Had a wonderful adventure trying to get there last night. Now I know why the cops close the roads when it gets this way. Because they didn't want anyone to see how many of them got stuck last night. Saw more of them stuck than anyone else. One or more even tried to get me stuck, but I'm a big boy behind the wheel and respond in kind.
Okay, okay, hats off to them for being there, but I still had to cuss out a couple and almost run down one of 'em to get back home.
Mrs. Lowbatts and I were the first ones on the block to reach the street today! Shovels in hand, we even beat those poor souls with the tiny snow blowers.
Stay warm folks and remember, sledding hills are on!

Re: Snow Day!
Lake Shore Drive was crazy last night. We walked to the lake to see the 25FT waves and ended up pushing cars out of snow drifts. Busses, cops, plows... all backed up. I have to say, if you know snow is coming, put your RWD vehicle away folks. City should have closed LSD much sooner than they did though. Wind was 70MPH off the lake.

Re: Snow Day!
Since I grew up in northern Illinois (Lake County) and though I live at the IL/WI border, I'll always consider Illinois home for me.
The news pictures of all the cars recently stranded/buried on LSD look the same as a picture from the 1967 blizzard. I think it was Ch 5 (Chicago) that did a side-by-side comparison on this morning's news ...
Anyway, we got 23.2" Tues. night into Weds. morning. Since the plows still haven't come through the cul-de-sac, there's no sense in snowblowing the solid 3' of it in my driveway ... just to go nowhere. The gf was making snow angels in the middle of the road.
In the last hour, they finally opened Green Bay Rd (south) heading into Zion, Illinois. Slow progress, but expected, considering the amount of snow that fell.
Well, it's yet another snow day for me !
