OMG moment, CACHE! Caches PLURAL!

The hunt at Lac Du 'Batts was a success on many fronts today!

Lastly there was the 13 wheaties in a very small area (5 foot squared)of an old homesite which we barely had time to take the full measure of. 1910 through 1945.

Before that I got a great dime signal under a root and saw a shiny disk, removed it and it turned out to be a name tag from days of old. Nina was the name on it and no doubt she was quite a site sitting beside the pond there back in the day.

But before that, we were covering the lakeside and Neil (Kimsdad) had sat on a log to take a breather from our frenzied pace. He noticed a tin under the log and thought out loud "Geocache!" and then noticed the tin had been sealed tight but had rotted out on one side. The contents lost to the woods nearby some time ago.

As we came back through that area I gave a swing over the log and got the big signal. Moved the leaves and brushed the dirt aside. A cooking pot with the lid sealed on it! Something rattled inside.

Another swing and a square candy tin, likewise sealed and hidden under the tree, then a cookie tin and finally a large candy tin. All sealed and hidden under the long fallen tree where Neil had sat just a short while earlier.

Well I was not doing much else at the time so I started screaming at Mark (Watercolor) and Neil to come-a-runnin' now boy howdy! All these items were sealed, all had some mass inside of unknown origin and even though I popped them out I begged Neil please take your pick and unseal the item of your choice and check the contents.

Neil chose the cooking pot. Then I asked Mark to follow suit and I would take the last two for myself but first I had to get a picture of them on the log that had previously concealed them.

As we opened them in turn wouldn't you know it, my camera batteries lived up to my handle. I have a shot of the tins but not the contents so I don't want to be too forward and expect anything I say to be left unprovable by video proof.

Neil and I think Mark as well got some pictures of the contents so I'll let them post and comment what we found.

My first guess was a pet cemetery, but all 4 appear to be sealed at the same time
using the same roll of tape, so now I'm not sure... hmmm? A stillborn litter possibly?
Plus, if they were filled with silver or cash, I think you would have sprung for some
camera batteries and posted pics.

Great minds think alike! That was my first guess. They looked like cheap tin urns at first. You almost won a nudie token, John - NOT!

Well, I'm home and started to organize pics and count the finds, but the celebretory homemade hard cider is taking its toll and I just lit the grill to cook the chicken breasts I've been brining, so it's going to be a bit yet before I get these pics posted.

I'm guessing matchbox / hotwheels / or even tootsie toy cars. The tape doesn't look that old... and in fact that kind of tape can't be older than 1930 http://www.ideafinder.com/history/in...ophanetape.htm

BUT, there could still be some loot in there... although I'm sticking with the cars ;-)
