    BOOYAH!!! OLDEST SILVER!!!!!

Hi everyone!! Man have I had some GREAT finds the last two days!! Started the week off right by beginning my vacation a few days early (ain't I a stinker? ). Began yesterday by running errands, then decided to hit a new fp (well, new to me....this particular fp has been pounded). After about 2 1/2 hrs, managed my 4th buffalo nickel (1917), 3 bullets, and a few cool old relics (possible old lipstick tube and ladies compact w/ most of the gold finish still on it).

In the evening, met up with Pocket Spill to hunt a park that we have both spent a lot of time at, and managed a '36 wheatie right before leaving (it was deep and difficult to pick out of all the trash but I managed...looks like I'm getting the hang of this "separation" business after all ).

Today began with more fp hunting with L4S and TF. After about 3 hours, I had a lone wheatie (1910; my 3rd from that year), and a small amount of clad.

After lunch, I decided to return to the fp where I found the buff and relics yesterday. Igot a tip from L4S on a possible "good" area (BIG THANKS MAN!!!!!!!), and headed out in that direction, swinging away. After about 10 mins of digging foil and crown tops I began to see bits and pieces of old broken bottles...."A good sign" I thought to myself. 5 minutes later, I get a short, repeatable "blip"....hmmm....what's this....dig down, nothing there...dig waaaay down, WHAM!! My first Barber quarter!! A beautiful 1897!! My oldest silver to date (beats the 1898 Barber dime I dug w/ Lowbatts last year)!! This was easily the deepest silver coin I have ever dug; it had to be AT LEAST 6 inches deep (and possibly as much as 8 inches). I am SO GLAD I didn't scratch it!! A few minutes later, I managed to dig a 1917d wheatie. Finished the day with 2 more wheats, some old eating utensils, a few more bullets, and 2 mini balls. Two day totals: 1897 Barber quarter, 1917 buffalo nickel, 5 wheats ('10, '17d, '36, '42, '53d), 5 bullets, 2 mini balls, 2 eating utensils, and 2 ladies' cosmetic relics. Clad totaled $1.01 for the 2 days, bringing my 2011 clad total up to a whopping $48.97!! Pics below. Enjoy!! YAY!! GO ME!!

I told you you should get something out of that section.

Congrats on getting that BBQ! Funny how you said it was your goal to get one this year right before I had to leave the first spot.
