Tot Lot Questions

I am learning metal detecting on an Ace 350 that I bought my dad for Christmas and he hasn't used yet.......just started last week.

I would like to know if you guys do any good at the local tot lots and what is generally the best time to go ?

Yes I found a 14k ring and a 14k earring in the woodchips and lots of clad, best bet is to go in the morning while the kiddos are in school.

Never know man... sometimes you find jewelry and sometimes just pennies. If there are kids playing I stay away. Don't want to be the neighborhood creep.

Mornings are the best for tot lot duty as the kiddos are in school. Trust me....you don't want to go there when they're playing. They'll end up taking all the clad you find. Serious.

I go at night. Once the sun goes down I'm in the chips then out in the field. I do the tot lot first every night. I have 2 parks behind my house with 3 tot lots.

I've made about $60 in the past 2 months from the tot lots.

Weekdays are fine, just show the coppers the number of bullets/knives/dope you pull out of the totlots, they'll tell where the hidden neighborhood lots are also so you can clean them out.

But yeah, early in, early out.

Schoolyard totlots are weekend work, only real hosers hit schoolyards on school days around here.

My wife's favorite place to hunt. Super easy digging, coins seldom need cleaning she just wipes them off and puts them in her change jar.
We have found over $30.00 in change just this spring and two silver rings. Got talked out of one ring by a little girl that was helping her dig. Really made that kids day. Her smile was worth a lot more then the silver value in that little tiny silver ring.

Also found a 1962 Silver Rosie one evening. Good place to hunt. Rick
