    More MD mockery

First find this morning under the slabs. Heavy, cylindrical? Tapped it and some crud popped off.

A stack of gold reeded edges appeared. Showed it to Mark (Watercolor) and he kinda shook a little and claimed dibs on "one of them" before handing it back. First thoughts were stack of 20 dollar gold coins fused together by fire or compression or who knows what. Nah, I found it. Gotta be something simpler.

Tried getting some dirt off but one end seemed hopelessly puttied in with muck. The other end started to clean up a bit, yellow, no detail. Counted 9 reeded edges in the stack. Second guesses were aplenty between Mayo, Mark, Skates and yours truly. Kinda figured it for a magician's gimmick, con man's partial roll, where a 10th coin (real) would top it off for a 200 dollar exchange. Who knows?

The 1854 Twenty D copy coin I found a few weeks ago fits just right on top of the stack. But hey, it ain't the real thing either....

I tossed it in the cat's litter box. Then turned ceiling-ward and screamed "Kahn!" or "Kirk!" or something like that.

One thing we didn't take into account with this find of yours.
I'll call it the "Laugh In" effect. It's the fickle finger of fate...

You place the stack into a piece of clothing designed for the foot,
swing it around and hit someone in the head with it.

    "Sock it to me?"

    Re: More MD mockery

Thanks for the cards and flowers! More slabs getting pulled today. I'll be back at it tomorrow taking on the MD gods, who have picked the wrong guy to mess with this time.

Here's the rattling tin I got at this site also some weeks back. Mark (Watercolor) id'ed the contents as primers, makes sense to me. The tin was about 6" under the sidewalk bed near an old church.

The rattling made wonder if it wasn't like the tin from two years ago with the four stones in it. Uh, I mean pieces of cut glass.

LB you always seem to get the shaft....but some day it will equal out...I think...
I was looking at the tin and those look like they could be buttons, but with just a pic it is hard to say,I have dug some that look like them...but Mark is probably right...just a thought...
Much luck on the next one....
