9/26/11 Short Park Hunt - 5 Silvers

The Etrac continues to amaze me. I had Monday afternoon off work and decided to go to a park for a few hours. All I can say is that the soil conditons were perfect for the Etrac's optimal performance. The signals were really singing and coming in good and the machine's separation capability was really kicking in.

I have never had a hunt in a pounded park start like this one. Started in an area I have hunted before but with limited success.

First signal I dug - high tone, bouncy numbers - Merc at 7 inches.

Then 1 foot away, second signal dug - medium tone, bouncy numbers but repeatable - 1927 wheatie and a pull tab in same hole.

Then 3 feet away, third signal dug - high tone but more a brief chirp but repeatable - Silver Washington at 3 inches -probably on edge.

I couldn't believe it. Although I have found alot of good coins at this park the past few years I have had 4 hour hunts here and found no silvers and here I had two in my first 3 holes!

Continued to hunt this area for another two hours before I had to leave and the goodies kept coming. Totals for the hunt were a 1937D Merc, 1936 Washington, 3 Barber Dimes - 1899, 1903 and 1912D, 10 wheaties and a Goetz phone token. The 1899 was down about 8 to 9 inches with a big iron nail in the hole also. The other two barbers were only about 5 to 6 inches and came in real good.

I'll be back this weekend to find where the Indians were hiding that usually come from this park.

Awesome job Pat! I know I still have some learning to do when we hunt the same places and you can hear those barbers that I'm missing!

I do tend to pass up the really high pitched high tones that usually end up being an aluminum tree tag or phone pole tag that are a 1-50. Do you dig those? Maybe thats what the deep silver rings in as?
