Chicago detecting help needed

I live near Peoria and want to hunt sometime in Chicago. I don't want to get shot or mugged. I would appreciate help finding a park or two that would be somewhat safe to detect in. I do plan on bringing at least one other hunter to help watch each other's back. I would be glad to reciprocate if you were coming to this area.

They're all unsafe depending on what your idea of "safe" is. Any of the decent ones worth detecting at least. I.e., Garfield Park, Washington Park, Jackson Park... I can keep listing them, but they're all "unsafe" As long as you're in early, and out before the crackheads get up (around 1pm) you should be fine.

Look into the Chicago Fair (Columbian Exposition 1863-1864) this will give you an idea of the areas that were used.

Like L4S says you do need to be careful. I carry pepper spray with me always in Chicago parks whether I am alone or in groups. I was approached by an angry crackhead trying to pick a fight with me earlier this year in one of the parks I mentioned in my PM to you (it was noon (a little earlier than 1 PM...). You will take a risk whether alone or in a group-wherever you go.

The other irony is that downstate Illinois subsidizes Chicago, its failing schools, etc... most tax $$$, Fees, etc. get sucked into Chicago, and like any good 3rd world nation, this $$$ does not make this situation any better, it only goes to line the corrupt pockets of Aldermen and the like. And by the way, the aldermen get to ccw...
