Oh what a day!!
Hi everyone!! Out and about all day today (we're talking sunup to sundown ). Met up with Pocket Spill and another detectorist (non t-netter) to hit various sections of a spot we've had a lot of luck at. Within the first hour, I got another Roosie (will someone PLEASE tell me where the mercs and Barbers are at?? ). Rest of the morning was pretty slow (only clad and a sterling ring).
After PS and the other detectorist called it a day, I decided to stay, planning to hit a section of this area I hadn't quite finished with yet. Not 5 minutes into my hunt in this section, I get a quarter signal at about 2 1/2 to 3 inches. Dig it out of a huge clump of clay, and find a grayish-white disc with no discernible details. Thinking it's just a clad quarter, I rub half of one side, trying to see a date. Imagine my shock when I can immediately make out the classic image of standing lady liberty!! I immediately put it in water and prayed my rubbing didn't scratch it too much. Well, the clay did a number on this one. It is badly pitted on both sides thanks to the acidity of the clay. I was able to remove all of the grayish-white crust with baking soda, though it did make the coin a kind of shiny white that I don't like. It is a full date (1928), with no mint mark that I can see. Pitting notwithstanding, the details on both sides of this coin are very good, and I'm glad it has a full date.
Totals for today: 2 silver coins ('54d Roosie, '28 SLQ), and a coiled spring style ring (marked sterling ). Not shown are the 3 wheaties I dug today ('38, '41, '44d). Clad totaled $7.76 (also not shown; includes a SBA dollar (my 3rd or 4th; I can't remember which)). Pics are below. Enjoy!! I'm taking a long, hot shower and then it's straight to bed!! I must've walked somewhere between 4 to 6 miles today!! I know I need the exercise, but dang!! My ankle is killin' me (yes, the owie one ).

Re: Oh what a day!!
Congrats on your finds. Too bad the SLQ is pitted, but still its nice. That's one of my favorite coins to dig up. You'll find Barbers, they'll come up. Its the seateds that are quite elusive.
