Best places to hunt NW suburbs IL

Hello-

Just got my first detector (Bounty Hunter Tracker IV) and am looking for good spots in the Chicagoland (historical spots?). Also, anyone know if there are permits needed for the woods or is that still a no-go?? PLUS, what is a good detector for a 6 year old (something that works, but isn't too pricey)...is the one I have acceptable or 'too advanced'??

A lot of spots are private or off limits (Cook Co. preserves ) do a search & read some earlier posts in ILL. forum for info. Old yards & lots have always produced for me..
