Anyone know of any decent spots in Lake County? To me, it seems like there's really nothing there because it's been repeatedly developed by people, but then I've been living here all my life so...

Old topic, I know. Just wanted to say there are some ghost towns in Lake County, you just need maps to overlay with todays maps.

Found one we are currently plotting out building foundations on.

Sunset Park in Highland Park, IL Lake County was an old Indian Trail. It is an old park now I went to day camp there many years ago. :P Wealthy area and I have found several coins there.

If you go to Fort Sheridan, be extremely careful. The fort is located near what used to be a toxic waste dump site, Landfill 7.

North Shore Line?

I lived in Waukegan for most of my life and didn't start detecting until after I moved away. I remember my Mom telling me that she rode the train to school from North Chicago to Waukegan. I'm pretty sure it was the North Shore Line and it is a bike path now. There were stations all along the way. You might want to research where they were and check those areas out. HH
