Hit up one of my go to spots I keep for the times I don't have a house to do , which is rare.
2 weeks ago I went Morel mushroom hunting and after that I decided to go detecting. Dug a beautiful 1920 slq.
So on Friday May 5th I went Morel hunting again and afterwards I again decided to go swing the coil for an hour.
20 minutes into the hunt I get a deep week signal that had my depth meter all the way down.
I knew it was a good target and I had a feeling it would be a large cent , only because I have dug 2 other ones about 100 feet away a couple years ago.
Got down about 10 inches and the pin pointer started screaming.. She was still in the hole. another little shovel full of dirt and the disc lays there in the sunshine.
I knew it LC baby...2nd one this year...Looked at it and in the pouch it went.
Cleaned her up a bit and at first I thought 1804 but boy was I wrong...
Bit more cleaning and BAM !!!!!!!!
99 appears which makes it a 1799......Drape Bust.....Key date LC

Very impressive for the area! Considering Chicago was a few shacks in 1840 you went WAY back. Oldest find in the city proper for me was 1880's IHC, and found quite by accident while digging an entirely too deep hole in the park searching for a phantom signal (Rookie issue). General oldest you see is 1972.

That'd have to have been dropped by someone on quite an adventure to be up in Desplaines anytime between 1799-1840!

Congrats!
