1940's WW2 prison camp in Pomona Illinois
Hi : Does anyone here know any History of the Prison camp that was located on Hickory Ridge road west of Pomona IL. It was there during WW2, I found the Location, it's South of the Little Grand Canyon several miles ,,the old foundations are still there,it's on Shawnee national forest property, But, I can't find any Info about it. I was told by a Older man that it was a large prison of war camp & it was occupied by German prisoners during WW2,He has pics of it also.

Re: 1940's WW2 prison camp in Pomona Illinois
Hi : Here is the Terraserver Link showing the site of that CCC/ WW 2 prison Camp. Pomona Illinois,, This site was first a CCC Camp, & then during the War is was Converted to a Prisoner of War Camp. In this link When it opens ,,The Camp is on the West Side of the Road,,Foundations are still there to the Guard Towers & all. when viewing this link you can see the Road leading into the Camp & the building sites are very faint since it has grown up in tree's now.
