Hey fellow Illinoisans

I'm planning a hunt near the University of Chicago. My son goes to school there so I figured I'd hit two birds with one stone and visit while MDing.
I plan to do the Midway Plaisance area near the University and also hit Jackson Park by the lake. I plan to do these during the week early hours. Usually gang bangers aren't out in the streets until later. Has anyone had any good/bad experiences they want to share respecting metal detecting these areas?

For instance, Wooded Island in Jackson park might be a decent place for old stuff from the Columbian Exposition. there's a couple of lagoons there which I plan to detect.

Has anyone done these recently? Also, along the lake front just over the border to Indiana (Whiting), I plan to check it out too.

thanks in advance for any suggestions or concerns about this area.

Anyone know the legit-ness of wading/swimming into the lagoons in Jackson Park (Chicago)?
Just bought a used diving setup ($60 on FB) and plan to use it as part of my water gear for metal detecting lakes.:laughing7:
