Mayo and Me today
Hit the newer park with the older past, but came up short, unless feeding skeeters counts. Did hit a parkway that was dugout about 12" at the old high school and got a couple nickels. The first was a 1903 V and the second was a 1882 shield. The shield was hard, 6"+ deep and standing on end under HARD packed dirt and rock. The V was almost eye candy, under loose dirt in the parkway. Dug a couple pulltabs too!

Read on the wall in the head at San Diego,
Ashes to ashes,
Dust to dust,
If not for your a-hole,
Your stomach would bust.
What's the terms in Bensenville? Restrictions? Open season? Which neighborhoods are primary and which are secondary? Inquiring minds want to know.

It's ALL public property if TAKEN under eminent domain statutes for public good, that does not mean ANY of it is accessible. The treetop bird nests and gutter bugs fall under the auspices of the controlling legal authority. That's why I was looking for answers from anyone who's been there, done that already or checked into it with something more specific than elementary speculation.
I smell more nickels.

Re: Mayo and Me today
While Lowbatts was finding those sweet nickels, I was busily digging up tin foil and pull tabs.
And half a silcock handle. I guess you could say I went off half-cocked.
Any Minelab SX or SE users know why my SX wasn't giving me a good signal when I placed it over Tims V-nickel? I have it set for ferrous sounds, coins and jewelry checked on the list, crown caps X'd out. Iron Mask was not on but it's at -16. My gain was at 6, sensitivity about 16 or 18 in manual mode.
I did place the machine in learn mode to try and have it learn the V-nickel but it fell within the already accepted signal area.

Hey Mayo,
Do you have an SE or SX? how long have you been using your tector. I have an SE and hunt in Conduct, Iron Mask 22, Sens 22 semi auto, Gain 8, smarfind, FAST and DEEP both OFF. If you just got your machine, then I suggest running in default setup for a while till you figure out the sounds different targets make. I don't dig that many nickels cause I usually end up with more pulltabs then nickels! Good luck!!!

Re: Mayo and Me today
I e-mailed the guy who is the public relations manager for the expansion project in Bensenville about three weeks ago about the matter.
I haven't heard back.

Thanks Joe,
I'm going scouting there in the morning. If I see cops, I'll flag 'em down and get their input. Of course local cops may have a different view than county cops, etc., but I'll be sure that they get my attention before I get theirs.

Re: Mayo and Me today
Hi Goio
I have the Explorer SX.
I've had it for a couple or 3 seasons but haven't had tons of time using it.
I find stuff with it (and have found some real deep targets) but I'm still learning how to get things tuned in better and learning what sounds like what. And what position the crosshair is when it's most likely junk versus good targets.
The settings I'm using were from http://www.treasuregizmo.com/settings.htm
He says he's running in Iron Mask -16, 85% of the time, with crowncaps rejected. I haven't tried detecting using iron mask. And he prefers sounds on ferrous. That way silver sounds high and iron sounds low. A lot of what he says makes sense but your mileage may vary. And I know his settings work for him in his area and I need to adjust accordingly. I was just a bit surprised when I didn't get a "good" signal when my coil was over Tims V nickel. OK so I was depressed the whole rest of the day. All I got was foil and pulltabs. But I'm better now. The doctor said the twitching from the shock therapy will go away in a week or so. Nurse Ratchett...
